About
Alex Work
Tell me a little something about yourself.
My name is Alex Work. For a long time I have been committed to high-performance goal-setting. I first became aware of it through swimming competitively at an early age. I found that by following some relatively simple goal setting steps I could put my self on a course to achieve what I wanted from my swimming. Eventually I did achieve some of these things, setting several National Age Group Records, and placing in the top 8 at Nationals twice. During this time I was also given a front-row seat to some of the best athletes on the planet, and was able to see what their goal setting processes were. After injuring my shoulder, I was forced to decide what I wanted to do next.
At this point, I reassessed what I wanted from my life, and I quickly realized that the process I would have to follow would be the same that I used when I swam. Since that point, I have focused on learning everything I can about goal setting and personal development. Now I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, in Victoria, BC.
Why do you have this blog?
I believe the more people that know how to properly set goals the better. I have a passion for success and achievement, and I enjoy sharing this passion with those who want to learn how to take their lives to the next level. I believe that it is everyone’s responsibility to do something special with their lives. Ultimately, it’s up to you to set your goals and chase after them. This blog was created to help as many people as I can along the way.
What do you like to do for fun?
I am a very active person. Since I’m living on the West Coast, I enjoy hitting the surf in the summer, and the mountains in the winter. Between those two, you can find me in the lap pool swimming some easy laps, in the gym, or running the local trails.
What is Your Goal Setting About?
I created Your Goal Setting to bring goal setting and personal development tips, techniques and tools to the world. You will be able to find all sorts of ideas and things you can try in your goal setting processes.
Why should I listen to you?
I believe everyone should do their research on all personal development advice they receive. It’s natural to skeptical when someone tells you that they are going to be able to change your life with advice or a book. It’s an unfortunate reality that there are many websites out there that have false information and tons of unrealized hype around their advice and products. Any advice I give on this blog is based completely in my own personal experience. I have used these goal setting tips and techniques myself over a period of nearly twenty years, first in my swimming and then in my career.
